OPEN LETTER TO MINISTER CONOR MURPHY & MINISTER DIANE DODDS
OPEN LETTER TO OUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES, MINISTERS CONOR MURPHY & DIANE DODDS
Dear Minister Murphy, Minister Dodds & your respective departments
I am respectfully reaching out to you again, this time publicly because as of yet no help has been available to my business since I contacted you individually in March 2020. In March Minister Murphy’s department pointed me to Minister Dodd’s department who replied 3 months later telling me that I should continue to check the NI Business Info website on a regular basis.
Laurelbank Leisure Holdings LTD t/a Golf Events Northern Ireland:
Registered with companies house since July 2019
VAT registered since July 2019
Has a business bank account since July 2019
Are based in a shared office at Innovation Factory, Belfast which is funded by Invest NI & Belfast City Council
As of yet we have received zero financial help from any of the government schemes because we have fallen through the gaps.
We lost our entire 2020 order book for both corporate golf days & golf tourism bookings as these bookings were for events taking place between mid March & September
Also as it stands, the vast majority companies quite understandably don’t want to discuss possible corporate golf days for 2021
This pandemic is possibly going to cost us at least 2 years trading.
Can you please explain to me, given the background set out above why, as a legitimate company we have been excluded from financial help? And, even if we set aside the “why”, can you please explain what you are doing to help companies like mine and to redress the balance
Don’t get me wrong, I do accept and appreciate the tough job you have to do but am finding it very difficult accept that my company is being allowed to flounder due to no fault of our own, whilst others are being helped.
On top of which, it is highly likely that in the future taxes will be raised to cover the support given to others. Meaning that not only have we been overlooked but we have the privilege of helping fund the support received by others
We really are now close to the endgame unless we get help as a matter of urgency
